Clothing bank as a partner of the round table in the Chamber of Deputies

4. 4. 2025

On Wednesday, 3 April 2025, we participated as a Clothing Bank in a roundtable in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, which focused on the development of a network of furniture banks and reuse centres. The event was held under the auspices of the MP Ing. Jana Krutáková, Chairwoman of the Environment Committee.

We are glad that we were able to be part of a discussion that is not only about things, but above all about people – and their right to live with dignity even in a difficult life situation. Together with other stakeholders, we discussed not only the functioning of existing furniture bank centres, but also the wider benefits of the reuse system: waste reduction, job creation, social inclusion and the protection of human dignity.

Mention was also made of the “We are in this together” initiative, of which we have been a part since the beginning. This linking of food, clothing and furniture banks is a model of cooperation that is producing concrete results. It shows that aid is strongest when organisations come together, processes are not duplicated and everyone contributes what they do best.

We thank the Czech Federation of Furniture Banks and Reuse Centres for the invitation and for organising this important meeting. We believe that the plan to build a network of furniture banks in all regions of the Czech Republic by 2027 will help to create a truly functional and comprehensive support system for those who need it.

Together we are showing that help makes sense – and that we are not alone. We are in this together.
