The spring clothing collection at ministries, the Government Office and other state institutions brought in almost three tons of textiles, which will go to the Clothing Bank. The clothes will now be sorted and assembled into crisis packages for people in need across the country.
Employees from six ministries, the Office of the Government and the National Security Bureau participated in the collection. The swap at the Ministry of Environment was also a special form of assistance, which emphasised the environmental dimension of the event.
“Clothes don’t belong in the trash, but can be put to further use. We are helping to reduce waste while supporting the people who need it most. This is a concrete example of how sustainability can work in practice,” said Environment Minister Petr Hladík.
The Clothing Bank has long operated as a support network that links material assistance with dignity and sustainability. Last year alone, we processed over 90 tonnes of textiles, which we distributed to thousands of beneficiaries with the help of food banks and other organisations.
“We could not function without the support of institutions, partners and the public. Thanks to these collections, clothes get to where they are really needed – to single mothers, the elderly or the homeless,” adds Dana Pavlousková, director of the Clothing Bank.
The collection at the ministries is proof that solidarity works and has a concrete impact. Thank you to all the institutions and individuals involved – we couldn’t have done it without you.
