One of the biggest events in September was the relocation of the Clothing Bank to new, larger and more suitable premises. This move will allow us to more efficiently sort, store and distribute clothing to those in need. We believe the new premises will help us to better manage the growing demand for our assistance and contribute to even greater efficiency in our work.
Last month, we worked hard sorting clothes from our donors, who were mostly individuals who sent us almost 600 packages and delivered dozens more bags and sacks personally. We cannot fail to mention the materials help from corporate donors such as Charita Vlašim, Pumax, Milano Praha, Husky and Movianto. We thank all of them for their generosity.
In terms of distribution, in September we issued 347 crisis packages that went to Food Bank Central. Dispatches were suspended in the first weeks of the month as the Federation of Food Banks focused solely on providing drinking water and basic food for the flood affected areas. Textile material assistance was temporarily not accepted due to capacity constraints.
In the context of the floods, an important meeting took place between representatives of our clothing bank and colleagues from the Federation of Food and Furniture Banks with First Lady Eva Pavlova and her team, where we jointly addressed the coordination of aid to the flood-affected areas. The collaboration focused on securing the necessary supplies and how to effectively plan and respond to the current crisis situation.
In the meantime, we used the sorted clothes to prepare packages for food banks in South Bohemia, Ostrava, Pardubice, Ústí nad Labem and Karlovy Vary. After the distribution resumed, we are again distributing hundreds of crisis packages to help those in need.
Our new warehouse, although often full, is still not enough to meet the demand. We are constantly appealing to new donors to donate clothes they no longer wear. To motivate donors across the country, we offer free postage through our unique code. Every week, organizations and individuals contact us via an online form to ask for help.
We would also like to thank our volunteers from Amazon, Česká spořitelna, Lagardére Travel Retail and CBRE who helped us in September. In total, 18 of them were involved in helping out. Financial support from JT International is also crucial to our activities.
If you have clothes at home that you no longer wear, please feel free to get involved. Every contribution, whether in the form of clothing, volunteer work or financial assistance, is very important. Let’s work together to help those who need it most.
