Volunteering plays an important role in the Czech Republic, and according to statistics from the Czech Statistical Office (CSO) from the second half of 2023, 19.2% of the population aged 15 and over, or approximately 1.66 million people, are involved in volunteering. Most volunteers are in the age groups 25-44 (36.3%) and 45-64 (36.2%). Women volunteer more often than men (21.4% vs. 16.9%).
The most common forms of volunteering include helping friends and neighbours (33.8%) and organisations such as clubs and societies (33.2%). In addition, volunteers are involved in nature and environmental protection (9.2%) and community activities (5.4%).
Corporate volunteering is also becoming increasingly popular, with employees of companies donating their working time to worthwhile activities. The participation of Amazon volunteers in our Clothing Bank is a case in point, showing how collaboration between companies and non-profit organisations can make a positive difference.
We thank all the volunteers for their great help and look forward to future projects.
